Magnetic reversal is 100% real and part of the geologic record. It happens every 200K years-ish (we are currently way overdue)

The BS about nervous systems cardiac etc is 100 fear porn. The likely results for that that are alive during the peak of this will be extra sunblock, auroras all over the place, and lots of lost birds.

PBS did a good special about this years ago when they still made real science documentaries.
