'Murican auto insurance rates are nuts.
Here in Qc I pay 1100$ a year in monopoly money, insured front & back with no deductible.
My rate is $1200 a year. Full coverage, including $100 deductible comprehensive, and in the Los Angeles metro area.
So does that mean OP has an abysmal driving record?
Depends on the car, too. You'd think it would be the cost to repair/replace the car, but it isn't. My wife's car costs $2,000 a year even though the car costs half as much as my car and she has the same driving record and address.
The nogs and spics in my new ZIP must have abysmal driving records... or they're largely under-insured/uninsured (or both).
No tickets here, and claims activity in the last two years is one for towing -- tranny died and it needed a tow. The car is otherwise reliable, so I went ahead and ate the $2,000 to have the tranny rebuilt.
