Here's the thing though, the common cold has the same symptoms. Occasionally a mutation will bring out different amounts of these symptoms, but they aren't an unknown thing for the common cold.

Preaching to the choir on the masks, but I've met trustworthy people who got some sort of illness and then lost their sense of smell and taste for a while. It stands to reason that a bunch of people experiencing the same symptoms probably got the same thing.

I work with someone who is out right now, feels kind of meh but just lost taste and smell like me.
Another former coworker said that he lost taste, but everything smelled weird, kind of but not really like strawberries. Said it was really fucked up when smell started to come back, because everything smelled like what it was and strawberry.
I don't worry about the people here who screech about it not being real. I've had influenza, this was completely different in how it acted.

I've had that shit before when I've had a regular cold. The reason you lose your sense of smell is because your sinuses are clogged up with mucus. Once you feel better its usually back to semi-normal, if not entirely.

I could taste a bit of salt (like I knew it was salty but couldn't really taste it,) and sweet tasted like you were drinking a watery sugar mixture. Again, not strong, but just barely enough I could tell it was sweet.
Smell was completely gone. I have a co-worker that regularly brings in garlic chicken, and it smells heavenly. I couldn't smell that at all. Had to be really careful cooking because it was super-easy to burn stuff.

I've had the flu, and i've had reduction in taste and smell. Not like this.
Once you've seen how strong placebo effects can be you learn quickly to second guess such symptoms. I'm not perfect, I've experienced such things myself. You know it's fake and all in your head but your mind still tricks you all the same.
Loss of taste and smell is subjective to a large degree. Whenever I've been sick throughout my life, the initial congestion and grogginess has always reduced my smell and taste.
To me it's like saying that Covid makes your fever sweat smell more foul and pungent. All viruses give you a fever and your BO can fluctuate so much for so many reasons, you could easily convince yourself it "more pungent".
If you take the time to see the bigger picture in the world today and when Covid started it becomes insultingly obvious that Covid is fake and gay. Though my opinion does not ignore the possibility of governments releasing actual bio weapons in small isolated groups to help pump the Covid numbers and public fear.

Well, I fully believe that this stuff is like any other respiratory disease. Some will die, some will just get symptoms and be like yeah whatever. Every illness that comes along affects us in different ways because, despite medical science's desire to put everyone in a single "human" box, we're all slightly different.
The symptoms I experienced were scary strange. I've never had this kind of loss of taste or smell, I wasn't clogged up like a cold, this was frightening in it's quickness and severity.
