A bit of antifreeze takes care of that bit when needed (in advance), but typically not in crisis. A bit of warm water and a fan forced heater can help, but it’s not instant.

Asking for a friend?

Actually Im not worried, but if you leave water running what if the drain freezes? Antifreeze would run out and no heater will warm a drain? And we are assuming power doesnt go out.

If you keep water flowing slightly, it keeps it cycling through the drain (like a sink) as well. Antifreeze for the toilet overnight perhaps would prevent a frozen trap, but it would have to be really cold to freeze a p trap that size solid in just a few hours. Once drain lines get under grade, they don’t typically freeze up. And they are pitched otherwise (one would hope at least) so water doesn’t hang out in the lines. It is always flowing.

Well everything is different, for instance my kitchen sink goes thru a greasetrap then to a field drain. And you have to keep in mind things arent supposed to get this cold down here, fuckin global greta.
