Think about it for a few seconds before you answer. If you had the ability to know everything about the past all the unanswered questions would you want that over knowing everything about the future and the events that will occur?

Know the past
Know the future

Knowing the future won’t change anything

Except I would be able to quit my job and make a wealthy living on sports betting.

Ok sure, you still won’t be able to change the future: you won’t be able to change your death. Why would you want to know that?

[–] 1 pt

I wouldn’t want to know my death, only the result of sporting events.

The past is more interesting to me than the future. Can’t really answer why, other than knowing the past allows for endless alternative history debates. Knowing the future won’t change anything, since it’s already destined to occur. Either way, you can’t change anything but the past leads to more fulfilment

Knowing the future is near on the same level as being able to change part of the past.

How? Give me a concrete example, you’re the second one to mention this and haven’t given me a logical conclusion to your statement

A change now to impact the future and a change in the past to impact the present are both situations where in some way a "potential present" is different.

Knowing the future may allow you to 'change' the bad and push the good. And Yes, i would use the knowledge to get rich in Vegas with a few bets.

You can’t change the future that’s the thing. You can win in Vegas but ultimately you can’t change the bet. You can’t change the future just like you can’t change the past. It’s just knowledge. Hypothetically, you try to change the outcome of a horse race but you can’t because it still happens. Future is as unchangeable as the past

Read what you said again. I do not want to change the future on a Bet result, i want to know the outcome and win. Yes 'knowing' the future would allow you to change it. It would take many hours of thought, but one 'action' would change the future. Example. You know the action of a bad man, so you Kill him. SO, ...............

Read my other comments on the post. You can’t change the future. Why would you kill the bad man? To prevent what? Killing the bad man would still cause the bad thing to occur because that’s the destiny of the event.

You can’t change the future just like you can’t change the past, this is why the question is such a great one. Knowing either the past or the future can’t change anything. Sure knowing the future can make you rich but other than money it doesn’t do anything for you.

Money is boring it’s the knowledge that matters.. hence my high IQ question. Would you rather know the past or the future (obviously there is a right answer)

Nothing in your original post said anything about the future being set in stone, you cant follow the logic because you are applying your own unspoken predetermined bias on others thoughts.

I’d rather live in a world where neither choice is needed or wanted.

Stop being a bore. It’s a fun hypothetical, what would you chose. I’d rather know the histories of my ancestors than be disappointed with my protégées

As soon as you gain your power to see everything in the future then you would begin remembering everything from the past from that moment on, so future has a little of both.

Explain your logic here doesn’t make sense to me

Say you got your power to see the future at age 25. You would remember your past regularly up to age 25 then you would remember everything since you saw it at that time in your life. Now you are 75 and remember 50 years of everything that happened.

  1. That still doesn’t change anything
  2. I can’t remember what I had for breakfast
  3. Age doesn’t change the past and it doesn’t change the future.
  4. Again you can win all the money in the world knowing horse races and that doesn’t change your destiny: you will still die and you can’t prevent it.

  5. Edit to add you see your future and you die at 26. What now? You failed to logic this riddle through

You haven’t thought this question through

logically speaking you can’t change the future. By definition in order to know something it will have to have happened. Anything you do to change it will still allow it to happen. Are you a Boomer or 13 years old? It’s not a difficult concept. Thing it through
