The largest portion of Clearinghouse violations are for marijuana use, or 56 percent of violations. Amphetamine and methamphetamine violations account for 18 percent, while cocaine and various opioids account for 15 percent and 4 percent.
It sounds like they knew about the problem for a while. They called it "Clearinghouse".
There isn't a shortage. This horseshit just came out to help shift blame away from Biden for the supply chain collapse. Drivers are at the ports waiting for 7+ hours to get loaded.
They are lined up all the way from the port's entrance to the interstate.
I'd bet my paycheck that the article you quoted that from said something along the lines of "80,000 drivers failed their drug tests and the large majority fail to follow through with the programs provided to get them back on the road." Yeah. 80,000 may have failed. That's a number that accounts for all drivers in the country since Clearing House has been a thing. It is a very small fraction of all drivers especially when you include new drivers just beginning in the industry.
How does the drug testing work? I live in Illinois, a recreational/medicinally legal state and smoke some pot before bed because it helps me fall asleep. I could easily stop doing that, but at the same time...it does help me fall asleep.
It doesn't matter if it's legal in your state when it comes to commercial drivers license because its federally regulated. A lot of guys are getting popped for CBD oil from what I hear. If you work for a company, you'll be piss or hair tested during hiring. Then companies have to test some percentage of their drivers randomly each year. And by random, I mean you could be out on the road 18 hours from the terminal and they'll call you and give you and address to go take a drug test at.
Drivers won't be allowed to smoke until they can test if you're high at the time.
I'd smoke too but it isn't worth losing my career. If you get in an accident with it in your system, you don't just get fired, you go to jail.
