Been doing more hunting around and there's plenty of farms that don't even take the calves away, but charge more.
And to appease people like this there's also farms that just straight up inject cows with hormones to produce milk even if they haven't given birth.
Seems to be a mixed bag of ethics.

Even so, what happens to the male calves when they wean?
Yeah, they do the hormone thing with regular cows too to increase production, seems risky.
