How is it these days? 10 years ago I figured by now linux would be at a state where if games would run decently on it that would be the end of windows.
As far as gaming it's pretty much the same. I do the standard stuff online and use it for home office type things so it works great for me. I still have windows on a partition but haven't used it for several years. It's very smooth if you are a general user.
linux mint running steam proton is fine for games, and it keeps being updated.
A lot of games with root anti cheat shit will flat out not run, but you shouldn't support that shit anyway, or you could just run a vm.

If how well games run is your reason for an operating system, you deserve Windows.
