I dropped my newer one in a puddle recently and would have liked to have been able to pull the battery out.
The excuse phone manufacturers gave for switching to non-removable batteries was so that they could make them more waterproof.
Maybe they should talk to Casio, who've been making waterproof watches with removable batteries for 40+ years.
That and being more compact. They're both legitimate reasons and most users probably wouldn't never bother with swapping batteries.
I'm part of the minority. I used to change batteries as soon as I noticed a drop in battery charge cycles.
That's a bullshit lie. There's nothing magical about making a battery non-removable that shrinks the volume required for a given capacity. 1cc takes up 1cc no matter whether you can remove it or not. Besides, the Motorola Razor was thinner than any phone today and it had a removable battery.
