It's actually pretty good. All the AAA games that I'm playing right now with the exception of Resident Evil work fine under Ubuntu. So I still dual boot to Win10 when I want to play RE. Otherwise it's Linux all the way. To be clear many people have gotten RE to run under Linux but nothing I've tried so far has worked for me.

If I played mutiplayer games it would be a different story however. Most multiplayer games only work with Windows. Likewise if I had a VR headset I'd still be tied to Windows.

I've been using Linux for servers for almost 20 years but the Linux desktop environments have always been problematic. I never actually expected to be able to switch for personal use but it appears that Linux has finally come into its own. With the caveats mentioned above I have no problem recommending it.

Well you're using shitty Ubuntu instead of Pop!_OS, Manjaro, or any of the other non-noob distros

Actually I'm using pop_os and I really like it. Previously Manjaro was my goto but I did not have the same luck getting games to run. Today you want an Ubuntu based distro if you're going to game.

Ubuntu is basically the normie tier Linux distro. The gaming specific distros are the way to go. Pop!_OS is the best in an all-in-one package focused on gaming but still perfectly capable of being an everyday PC.
