Well, this is going to be our new home and we'll ride it 'til the wheels fall off, just like we did with Voat.

There will be continuity. The thread will continue. I've checked and the owner assures me that the site's resources will handle us.

It's not all bad... Voat had started to go downhill quite a while ago. We had to have the regular site open, the preview site open, and then had to generate alts just so we could consistently use Voat without the dreaded 500 error.

But, I'd like to avoid lamenting the past and I'd like to encourage looking forward. This sub was prepared long ago and has existed since the very earliest days of Poal. We can, and will, use it to host our guitar thread.

As always, there's , but music is best when shared and Poal has an audience.

If you're new to Poal, try to take care to read and understand the site before barging in and making bold proclamations and demands. Don't bring past grievances forward. Let us be good stewards of the thread and guests of the site.

We will have the final Voat FNGT on Thursday. On Friday, we're gonna have a FNGT right here on Poal. That's right! We're gonna have two guitar threads. Pretty sweet, huh? Besides, our Christmas thread is a good time for them to see us in action. It's when we're on our worst behavior but bring our best music!

Voat's finally gonna shit the bed. The guitar thread must continue. So, we all ended up here eventually. Fortunately, I prepared a long time ago and the guitar sub already exists.

I'm trying to make the best of it while contacting the many, many people who have contributed over the years.

I didn't like Reddit much. It was too easy. So, I resumed helping people with their Linux issues. I'm even officially testing the next version of Lubuntu, among other things.

The guitar goats are pretty good people, but it seemed like an important thing to mention.

I, and the sub, have been here since day one. They have not. I also haven't participated lately. So, it seemed important enough to mention.

Well it's good to mention generally. I signed up on both the same day (the first day Voat reopened last year after not letting people lurk for what was it, 3 months?) I had lurked on Voat since Chairman Pao's FPH ban when someone mentioned it. I think I heard about poal 6 mo or a year before that? Had been lurking here too, but there was no specific impetus that I can remember to more accurately gauge how long. Made an account here the same day as my voat account (same name too)

Poal is not too terribly old. My account is maybe the 4th 5th or 6th oldest, mostly because I waited for https to work before signing up. Hell, I think it may have been just an ip address when I signed up, the DNS hadn't propagated.
