Use a locally owned appliance store. They’ll be more than happy to give you inside delivery.
and DO NOT BUY A FRONT LOAD
Why? Front load washes clothes more efficiently.
They have a tendency to leak
and grow nasty mold, and wear out your clothes, and struggle to clean heavily soiled clothing. I've also personally experienced issues with their electronics boards failing on multiple makes/models. MIL gave up on her front loader, ended up going with a classic old school machine.
Or just break in any other way possible. They're just garbage.
Well ya. Those front seals need to be replaced every 5-10 years. But I see it as a trade off for better performance.
Bullshit! They use minimum water, so clean your clothes halfassed. I do a better job with a plastic tub and toilet plunger.
Front loads either leak or just die.
They wear out faster (motor bearing)
Top Load. No agitator.
Buy a used pre-smart one on Craigslist; it'll last longer.
Facts! Bought my washer from a repair guy. He delivered it and hooked it up. Tested it all. $150.
That was 7 years ago. Thing is a beast.
Dryer is newer and fancier but I needed a new one and snagged a deal from an estate sale.
I'm sure future smart (snitch) power meters will be able to detect when you have such devices running (by their power signature), and fine you automatically.
Just add a ‘smartifier’ between the plug and outlet.
That’s a dark thought.
We bought our top loader in 1999. All I've had to do is replace the drain pump and motor coupler. It still washes the clothes just fine.
Don't do what I did.
Bought used top-loader washer/dryer, which were top of the line from a previous gen (because I was sick and tired of the side-loading, mold shit, and HE chemicals that barely rinse off.)
Converted dryer power plug. Hooked hot and cold. Cleared lint out of dryer vent line. Hook vent line up. Everything looks plugged in.
Turned washer on. Works great.
Goes to rinse cycle

I didn't have a drain hose connected. Flooded everything.
When I ordered our new freezer from Home Depot, it was for delivery to the driveway. I offered $20 cash to both guys ($20 each) to unbox it and carry it around the house, in the back door, and place it where it was to go.
"Hell yes sir!", they both said. 10 minutes later and without my back being broken, our new freezer was in place. Well worth the $40.
If you want buy-it-for-life quality, find a commercial SpeedQueen dealer (commercial I can't stress this enough) and get the simple well-built (expensive) models that don't break.
May have to figure out install on your own, but distributor may offer indoor delivery & services, maybe haul-away of old units.
I don’t own one, but I can second that SpeedQueen is good stuff. There was an appliance place in my town that closed up (retired) but they did great repair work. The owner/repairman only would recommend SpeedQueens because they use better parts in them.
Local... I'm to cheap to pay for delivery and install, but the local guys always have the nicer units, and I can support a White owned business
Bro just hook it up your self, It takes like 15mins. All you need is teflon tape, a pair of channel locks, and a screwdriver.
Hookup is easy, transport a pain. Particularly if you're stacking front loads.
you want to get a speed queen those are american made built to last.
home depot is better suited for contractors and lowes is better for the local home owner they'll also carry replacement trim and other stuff that the homes in the area have installed. so if youre looking for some oddball replacement thing for your house lowes typically has it while hd wont
My wife and I went to buy a washer dryer combo stack from the Homo Despot. We talk to the lady that we had to spend 20 minutes to find and lure back to the appliance counter. Spend about another 20 minutes finding the correct one on the website even though it took me about 45 seconds to find it on my phone. Do the sale thing and get told a price that includes warranty, shipping, all of the good shit, Get a receipt to take to the front to pay. In the 60 foot walk between the two counters the price jumped just short of $300.
Me: Uh, we were told one price over there and now this fuckery, how?
Clerk: Oh, shipping.
Me: Nope on there already.
Clerk: Um some other bullshit fee.
Me: Nope.
Clerk: Well we must have made a mistake.
Me and the wife: You're fucking right you did. Cancel that shit because we ain't buying fuckall from this dipshit circus.
We demanded a receipt showing that the order was canceled and walked the fuck out. I don't remember where we got it but we got the exact same thing for a hundred bucks less.
It really was kinda surreal how agonizingly fucked up it was trying to make a simple purchase was.
It took some thought and effort on Home Depot's part to have such a convoluted system like that
Glad you stuck to your guns, made the gal work for her $15.00 and hour.
At least ten years ago my mom's washer went on the fritz. Dad bought it used in like 1990 or so; top loader kenmore. Called a repair guy and was feeling really embarassed by the old junker washing machine, sure the guy was used to the cool expensive stuff.
Dude with cool hair and mustache straight out of the 80's worked on the machine, looked at me and said "this is one of the best washing machines ever made". Talked about the simplicity and how well they worked and durability.
I stopped feeling bad about not having the latest stuff.
